Globe-trotting intrepid reporter Ewan Spence has spent time with Scott Foe, the developer of Reset Generation, and has plenty of thoughts on both the game and its significance for Nokia. What is the game like, will it be a hit, and how will its promotion differ from previous phone games?
We've had a load of screenshots flung at us of the upcoming Reset Generation (formerly Project White Rock) N-Gage game. Instead of just posting them in the conventional way, we've done a little slideshow film accompanied by part of the game's 8-Bit Weapon soundtrack. Click on the headline to check it out...
The N-Gage platform has now been officially launched for several weeks, but which phones are people actually using it on? Take part in our survey and let us know which N-Gage-compatible model you use to access the service.
It's only been out a short while, but we've already digested it and reviewed Nokia's N-Gage-exclusive title Mile High Pinball. Click here to find out whether it's a big-scoring ball of brilliance, or a terrible tilt-alarm-sounding terror. (Incidentally, if you've been having trouble finding out how to buy the full game, you have to complete the demo to bring up the purchase link.) UPDATE: We've now added a gameplay video at the beginning of the review.
A graphic adventure game called Hidden Expedition: Titanic has been released for N-Gage-compatible phones, which involves exploring the wreck of the famous liner. You can find out more about the game and buy it from the official site. (All N-Gage phones are compatible with Symbian S60 3rd Edition games, so that's the version you should get.)

Mile High Pinball has at last been released on N-Gage, just head on over to your N-Gage-compatible phone's showroom and select "Update Now" from the Options menu. Our colleague Steve Litchfield over on All About Symbian reports that you may not see the game straight away, and it might be hidden at the bottom of the "Available Games" list, so try looking there if the update doesn't work. (...and thanks to Steve for the screenshots of the download too.)
N-Gage games cover a range of genres and styles, but there are some basic standards which ought to be observed by all of them. In our latest AAN editorial, we look at seven rules which every N-Gage release should obey. If you have any suggestions for rules of your own, post them in the comments thread of this item.
The official N-Gage site's installation instructions seem to concentrate on installing the N-Gage application using a PC. However, there is a much quicker and simpler alternative which lets you install the N-Gage app directly onto your phone through its web browser. Completely confounding expectations, Reset Generation has at last been unveiled with gameplay screenshots, a hands-on preview of the game itself and details of Nokia's plans for user-created content. Looking absolutely nothing like Pathway To Glory or High Seize, Reset Gen is a sort of mixture of puzzle, strategy and a thick layer of retro, with multi-player online support for up to four people. Perhaps most intriguingly though, the web-based PC version will be absolutely free, and in a form which anyone can embed on their website. PC players will play in the same game world as N-Gage players, so it shouldn't be too hard to find opponents online. (via Skywish on the Official N-Gage Forums)
Further details of of Project White Rock, the much anticipated N-Gage game, have started to leak out ahead of tonight's event. Pocket Gamer and Develop (who both cite Edge as their source) are reporting that the game is titled Reset Generation and will be available on both N-Gage and on the web. The game is turn based and uses spoofed classic game characters. There's a twist though - these characters and other game assets will be customisable. This brings a user generated content element to the game which should mean it has a longer life cycle that typical mobile games.

Well, we've closed our latest survey and can now give the final results of which upcoming N-Gage games are most anticipated by you our readers. Click on the headline to see the complete rundown...

The Official N-Gage Blog has informed the world that the next gen N-Gage version of Mile High Pinball will be released "over the next 24 hours, or at the latest, by Monday". People who filled in the N-Gage beta testing survey will get the game for free, but they will have to wait until the 12th of May to get their activation codes. Apparently some people were being naughty and filling in the form with complete gibberish, so Nokia are having to check each submitted form manually to make sure it contains real feedback.
As previously reported by us and various other sites, Project White Rock is due to get its first public unveiling tomorrow, the 2nd of May. What's amazing is how little is public knowledge even so close to the event, we don't really know what genre this is or what the gameplay will involve. All we do know is it probably has something to do with classic retro gaming and is being made by RedLynx, the people who made Pathway To Glory and High Seize (so we are assuming PWR is a strategy game). Any suggestions of leaks or rumours are welcome in the comments thread.
The people promoting the N-Gage shoot-em-up Space Impact: Kappa Base have apparently set up a frighteningly elaborate blog called "Are They Watching?". As well as numerous videos, they also give instructions on making a tin foil hat to deflect the "alien rays". See what you think. (via the Official N-Gage Blog)
