The Nokia N-Gage is Nokia's first gaming device. Nokia say it is a gaming device with a phone not a phone with a gaming device. It represents a new market for Nokia where it will be competing with devices such as Nintendo's GBA. The phone functions are intended to enhance the gaming functions of the device with bluetooth and GPRS allowing multi player gaming without wires. As well as being a gaming deck the phone is powered by Series 60 meaning it is a powerful smartphine in its own right with the full suite of PIM and browsing applications that come with Series 60.
Programs and Games can be added either using the N-Gage only locked MMC cards (intended for rich games such as Tomb Raider and Super Monkey Ball) or into the phones memory (or a normal MMC card) as self install programs as on u=other Symbian devices. Series 60 currently supports 3rd party program in Symbian C++, J2ME or OPL.
The phone is also an MP3 player, with playback in either AAC or MP3 and the deck also featuress a radio tuner, Real One player and recorder to round out the audio features.
